Edit: I rerolled my monk once during the early launch of Prophecies, but only because I noticed that almost every other female monk had the princess Leiah bun-do and I wanted to be set apart from the masses. I was tempted to do it again after Factions came out, but then I wouldn't have been able to receive my mini Rurik. =/

Well this works if you can't bear to delete your characters. What works better is if Anet allows us to change the appearance of our toons.

What also works is spend a bit of time in actually creating your toon.
I can understand rerolling becoz you wanna try another profession and have limited slots ok, but rerolling becoz you don't like your appearance. come on.
I've never rerolled a character once becoz i didn't like the look of it.
Sounds stupid anyways.
it's called a Role Playing character.

It can be that people don't like the appearance 'anymore' or specific parts of their character. In real life you can get another look, haircut or style too. You can even get a sun coloured tan if you want.
I'm 90% satisfied with the character I made since euro release. I would prefer a bit of darker skin as I chose a pale colour which in some areas gives me kinda unhealthy look. Not really what I wanted for my monk, I just wanted a caucasian look, not a zombie one but couldn't see that in the creation screen at the time.

I disagree with your point (I don't like telling others how to have fun / play the game), but I couldn't help but chuckling at your pun.
I've re-rolled a bunch of (PvE) characters (I refuse to call them toons - where the heck did that come from?), but once they're past level 15 or so, I keep them. Once a certain amount of work is put into them, I can't bear to delete them, even if I'm not fond of the hair or face anymore.
I'm betting a hairdresser will be coming in the next chapter - too many people have asked for it for it not to be seriously considered (think about how many times templates were requested). Add to that the fact that (it seems like) it shouldn't be all that hard of a feature to implement (unlike an auction house, re-connects, or matchmaking improvements, which seem more complex to me).

i keep rerolling chars too, its not because of changing face most of the time, its because i finish the game, get bored and doing all the missions again with same char gets boring, then their faces get boring and everything is boring... all my char slots are permanently full, so making only a new char is no solution.... I like to watch the char "grow", lvl up and so, when you rechhed 20 lvl, have most of the skills, expensive armor and all the quests done.........
Someone said he buys a big helmet.... when i have assassins, necros, mesmers and so WHERE to get a helmet for them?
No, seriously, my oldest char, the rit, wont probably be deleted just because of that... because of those hat they wear, one can't se either face nor hair, so there is no point of remaking it:P the new one will look exactly the same
Yeah, but rerolling is my big problem... i had to buy my minipets

i want to reroll chars, but just can't bear the thought of deleting all that time and effort >.< (mainly my ele and ranger, which are my two oldest chars). i think my ele looks ugly now and needs plastic surgery >.> and prefer the Canthan ranger looks to proph ones, but i've spent so much time and money on my ele over time.
though i rerolled my mesmer about 5-6 times because she kept failing to reach survivor (1) but she only ever got to lvl15max on Shing Jea when that happened...

I'd love to dump my butch male warrior and create a sleek female amazon instead, but I just don't have the time to play through two complete campaigns again and capture all those elite skills again.

Glad I am not that affected by my toons looks. I just make them look nice and off I go. Not that I play backwards seriously their ass stares back at you most of the time not their faces. Each to their own I guess.

I haven't rerolled any characters with significant time played on them. I can understand why people do it, I just never had the urge to do it myself. I do have 2 warriors and 2 monks (1 per account), but that's about it really.

I've been wanting to change Riou's skin to a less tanned version, so he looks a bit more 'normal', if you consider being a Necromancer normal. Of course, he's my first, and main character, savior of two continents (soon to be three. Yes, Elona, you shall be my third *cue evil laugher for no reason*). Also, since he has a 15k set on him, and I'm hardly sitting on a fortune, I can't remake.
I've deleted countless male rangers because their armour looks horrible IMO, can't be bothered making a female one.
I deleted my Canthan female Mesmer because I quite frankly, hate PUGs, and Cantha is a steep learning curve for learning new professions. Made her into a Paragon, then found out I hated that profession. She's now an Elonian Mesmer again, phew.
---
Isn't it great to make PvP characters so you can look neat for however long you want (guild occasions) and then just delete and remake without losing anything at all?

I've made and deleted lots of characters. Usually ones that I was going for survivor on and ended up dying, thus having to start over anyway. No big deal.
Before we could buy character slots I deleted several characters (usually because I had doubles on the same account) so I could create a new one of a different class. Now that I can buy slots I don't have this problem. Of course, now I've simply decided that I want one of each character type on each account and spend more time in the design process of my character so that i get what i want (looks wise and such) the first time around.
I plan to never delete another character.

thats a pretty stupid response considering the limited amount of hair/face in the first chapter and the way they look better with each update.
i want new hair and face for my fem warrior as the factions ones are nicer imo but when i made her only prophecies was out so i didnt have that choice... so what is your arguement again?
its fine for you to say things sound stupid but make sure you dont sound equally stupid next time because some of us have been playing since there were only basic and ugly hair/faces available and had to settle for what was there at the time

When I started Prophecies I had no idea how long a character would 'last'. I just threw together a creepy male necro to quickly start playing with friends. Only after beating the game did I realize that you could play a character into subsequent chapters. And with titles just appearing there was more incentive to stick with the same character for a long time. He's now a mule parked in Urgoz's Warren and I rerolled a more aesthetically pleasing female necro for titles (explorer, protector, treasure, wisdom).
My choices of hairstyles and armor on new characters is heavily based on how they look from behind!

To the OP: yes, I've deleted lots of low to mid-level characters, sometimes just because I'm sick of their looks, sometimes for other reasons (usually wanting to try different profession combos). I have 3 20's now that I don't like (ugly), but I probably won't re-roll them anytime soon, if ever. I've got plenty of other chars to play, so I just don't play the ugly ones. I may delete them later, haven't really decided yet.

I suppose it would be nice if guild-halls could purchase a "cosmeticist" who would let you go through the head/face/hair/haircolor selection for a character for a fee.

Well, I am now happy with the looks for all of my characters. I only re-rolled the 2 that I have never been happy with. Will it cost me time and gold in order to rebuild those characters? Yes. Is it worth it? To me, it is. To you, it might not be.
